Nonlinear Seismic Analysis for Concrete Structures in Upcoming RFEM Releases

Hello Dr. Ibrahim M. Metwally, PHD, PE

we are planning to improve the functionality of our nonlinear seismic design tools. We have just released the Nonlinear Time History Analysis:

as well as nonlinear Reinforced Concrete hinges (flexure) according to ASCE 41-17:

Our next development steps will lead in the direction of the Capacity Spectrum Method and the inclusion of Accidental Torsion.
There are several hinges and behaviours stated in standards already. We do plan to tackle them step by step. The customer request quantity for specific hinges and functionalities will play a key rule within the future Performance Based Design Development. Therefore, it is always recommended to document wanted Features within our Feature Requests:

Right now, we cannot give estimates on the developments on the nonlinear behaviour in combination with the NLTHA. We will investigate and test further.

In conclusion:
Yes, we do plan to improve every point you mentioned. However, it is quite some advances and they’re arrival cannot be estimated yet.

Best regards
Thomas Eichner
