RFEM6: Use of layers to manage modelling of complex loads

Situation: I have a model with many beams and pipes. In the same load case, I need to apply loads coming from different sources.

Problems:

  1. Overlaying these two sets of loads becomes visually too complicated, difficult to manage and easy to miss mistakes.

  2. Creating separate load cases unnecessarily elongates and complicates the load combinations. Causes complaints from project reviewers as being difficult to inspect.

  3. I was not able to use the layer feature to easily show or hide loads in the same load case (similar to how easy and handy the layer feature is in AutoCAD). It is not possible to add load objects to the new layer I created.

  1. The object selection feature, it is not possible to select specific load wizard objects based on their comment.

Question How can I easily visually appear or disappear specific load objects in a load case in RFEM6 (similar to how easy it is done in AutoCAD)?

I use RFEM version 6.11.006.

Hi PSA001,

Thank you for your question!

You’ve raised a great point about considering the loading objects for the layers. I’ve already forwarded your suggestion to the relevant team, and we hope to offer this option in the near future.

In the meantime, you can work around this issue by using Visibility settings and/or User Defined Views. Have you already tried these options? Just keep in mind the related objects when setting them up.

Let me know if this helps, or if you need further assistance. Thank you for reaching out!
