I want to design a strip foundation and wanted to do it using the substitute model as suggested here: https://www.dlubal.com/de/support-und-schulungen/support/faq/002406?srsltid=AfmBOooxqYN4gj6seL5fcsAbhZOdc_3jKC5YvG7qLtnTERfzrNgz6_Pt. I have adjusted my loads and created the individual foundation under the rigid bar. However, it states that the object is not permissible. What is the error here? streifenfundament_ersatzmodell.rf6 (884.4 KB)
Hi @ha123,
thank you for your question
.
The example shown in the FAQ refers to RFEM 5 and cannot be transferred one-to-one to RFEM 6.
The key difference between the two program versions is that in RFEM 6 the foundation design requires the column geometry. The selected rigid member cannot be assigned a cross-section, which makes it not permissible for foundation design.
Recommended approach in RFEM 6
Instead of a rigid member, please define a member with a cross-section that represents a 1-m strip of the wall (substitute model). The member can be modeled as a beam, for example. This provides RFEM 6 with the required geometric information for the foundation design.
If the self-weight of the member should not be considered, this can be controlled via the material definition by assigning a concrete material with a unit weight of 0 to the member.
I hope this helps clarify the issue
. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.
Best regards
Ann-Kathrin
