# Tendon Profile – Plausibility Error

Hello,

While developing the tendon profile and checking the calculations in RFEM, I encountered the error message shown in the attached screenshot.

Could you please help me understand the cause of this error and how to resolve it?

Hello @amirarmia,

This error is typically caused by a different member orientation between the structural member and the tendon member.

For example:  
If the beam member lies in the x-y plane and runs in the positive y-direction, then the tendon member must also run in the same y-direction. Otherwise, the FE node connection between the tendon and the structural member cannot be established correctly.

In this scenario, no tendon member should run transversely/crosswise to the beam member.

In most cases, this can be solved by reversing the member orientation of either the beam or the tendon so that both members have the same local axis direction.

Unfortunately, I am still encountering the same problem. Therefore, I have attached my RFEM model for your reference and review. I would greatly appreciate it if you could check the model and help me identify the source of the issue.

Hello @amirarmia,

I have now checked your model and the issue is caused by inconsistent member orientations.

Please try the following steps:

1. Enable the member orientations display  
(right click → “Member Orientations on/off”)

2. You will then see that some members run in positive x-direction while others run in negative x-direction.

3. Reverse one of the two directions so that all tendon and beam members have the same orientation.

I attached a screenshot below showing the procedure. After adjusting the member orientation, the tendon connection should work correctly. 🙂
