Unexpected GUI setting: section material change during section change

Situation: In RFEM6.12.0007, I have steel members, and I want to change their cross-section.

Problems:

  1. When I open the catalogue, the default material changes from steel to concrete (video below). Without any warnings and the model happily runs without problems.

  2. All the design configurations are removed from the 'concrete' HEA beams without elaborate warnings or notifications.

  3. All the HEA profiles made of concrete are removed from the 'objects to design' list of the steel-design add-on without elaborate pop-up messages or warnings although low-key marked as warning in steel-design module.

Although it is the user's responsibility to check all the inputs, often during repeated changing of cross-sections and on a rush, this silent material change causes some headaches.

Given that this software is meant for the design of civil structures, not general design (like Abaqus), it would be good that it warned the user based on common engineering sense that an HEA beam is typically not made of concrete.

I hope this is fixed in the future versions.

Hi PSA001,

Thank you for your message! Unfortunately, I could not reproduce the problem (6.12.10).

To analyze the problem more precisely, the model file would be very helpful:

:right_arrow: Click on FileSave As and choose the following settings to reduce the file size:

image467×393 8.19 KB

:right_arrow: Then upload the file here (e.g. *.rf6, *.rs9) – this way the community can also contribute to the solution.

:owl: Do you not want to share the file publicly? No problem – send it to me via direct message: click on my profile picture or my usernameMessage.

Best regards
Eike
