Spacing of transverse reinforcement of columns, disable for beams

Good day :D,

in a current model, I get the following verification in the concrete design of a secondary beam:

Since the component is not a support, I would like to be able to set that this verification is not performed. How can this be configured? No effective lengths have already been assigned.

Furthermore, I would be interested to know if it is somehow possible to directly read out the total amount of reinforcement in tons from a beam/rod, i.e., not separated by reinforcement position?

Hi DeflectionPerfection,

Thank you very much for your question.

Background: In RFEM 6, but also already in RFEM 5, the classification (beam/column) of concrete members is based on the axial force-moment ratio, more precisely on the value of the relative compression zone height (x/d). If this value is greater than 0.22, the member is classified as a column; if the value is below, as a beam.
Since the design in RFEM 6 is performed at individual x-locations, this classification can also change within a single member:

Ribbed members have a high axial force due to their load-bearing effect in interaction with the slab, which is why they can be considered (at certain locations) as columns – with the consequence that the structural verification DM 0218 is also carried out.

If you do not want to perform this verification for certain members, you can create a new load-bearing capacity for the ribbed members and remove the checkmark for the verification:

If you have any further questions, just write. I am happy to help you

Best regards
Clemens Gutmann
