Calculation of Non-Linear Fabric RVE

Hello,

I am currently creating a membrane construction for a master's thesis and would like to use the nonlinear material model for the fabric. However, the calculation of individual load combinations often fails (error no. 1327), without any apparent reason for me. In addition, the required iteration accuracy is often not achieved.

I determined the values for the E-moduli from my own experiments, but the error also occurs with the standard materials for fabric.

Do I need to pay special attention to anything when using the RVE? Unfortunately, I could not find anything about this in the Knowledge Base or the manual.

I would appreciate any help.
Thank you very much.

Hi Lorenz,

Welcome to the Dlubal Community! Glad to have you here :waving_hand:

In principle, it is inherent in nonlinear material models that achieving convergence is a greater challenge for the solver than with linear material models.

In your model, I noticed the following three things that are usually common in membrane structures and have an impact on convergence and calculation errors:

  1. In your model, no form-finding loads are assigned to the membrane surfaces, which means the surfaces are not given any spatial stiffness.
  2. Not all cable bars are assigned form-finding loads.
  3. Not all membrane edges are supported by a (cable) bar or line support.

Therefore, try to address these points in your model.
