Calculation error with models created via API

Hello,

I am currently calculating Slimfloor-HBV slabs with RSTAB. The basis for this is a classic truss model, where I adjust the supports to my respective situation. Initially, I created the models manually, which worked well.

To automate the input, I then wrote a Python program that handles model creation and reading via the RSTAB API. The actual model creation via the API also works largely without problems. However, when calculating the “API models,” errors frequently occur. Either the model is detected as unstable, or the number of required iterations is insufficient.

The problem is difficult for me to understand because the models generated via the API are almost identical to my manually created models, where these problems do not occur.

Therefore, I hope someone can give me a tip on how best to find such errors in the “API models” or what I should pay special attention to. Perhaps someone even recognizes a possible cause directly. I have attached two examples of manually created and API models.

Thank you very much.

Hi Philipp,

the problem is not that the models were created with API II. They are simply different models. Whether these were created manually or via API is irrelevant.

Actually, this is about how to best find the cause of the instability. There is a good FAQ on this:

Finding and fixing instabilities in calculations: cause analysis and solutions

I hope this helps you further.
