How to best model wooden dowels in a CLT panel also depends on the goal pursued with the modeling:

Realistic load transfer:
If only the load transfer through the dowels should be considered, this could be represented, for example, by connection rods with appropriate nonlinearities. For modeling CLT surfaces, you can use the add-on “Layered Surfaces”. -
Verification of the dowels:
For the design of wooden fasteners, we currently have no specific verifications implemented in RFEM 6, only for wooden rods in general.
However, this could be expanded in the future.
