Concrete design: inflexible shear reinforcement arrangement

For a concrete column (1200x240), I get the error that the transverse distance between the stirrup legs are not enough (first image). I cannot define any denser distribution of stirrup legs using the available options in RFEM:

I am using four legged stirrup, cannot increase the number of legs any more (second image), and the checkbox to add cross-ties over free rebars doesn't work when I use four-legged stirrups. Adding additional shear reinforcement objects (third image) doesn't help filling the side distances between the legs.

How to overcome this problem?

Hi PSA001,

thanks for your message!

To analyse the problem more precisely, the model file would be very helpful:

:right_arrow: Click on FileSave as and choose the following settings to reduce the file size:

:right_arrow: Then upload the file here (e.g. *.rf6, *.rs9) – this way, the community can also contribute to the solution.

:owl: Prefer not to share the file publicly? No problem – send it to me via direct message: click on my profile picture or user nameMessage.

Hello,

I am not allowed to share the model, unfortunately, even one with unnecessary parts removed.

@clemens.gutmann could you tell me how to increase the number of stirrups to remove the error from this design check? thanks.

I would like to know why I can't add more than four legs of stirrups?

I don't see any other way to reduce the design ratio in this member.

Hi @PSA001,

thank you for your message.

For the checkbox Crossties over free rebars with active selection in graphic to work correctly, you first need to select two legged stirrup types .
After that, you can activate the checkbox and graphically select the rebars where the crossties should be placed. This will certainly ensures that the design check can be performed and verified correctly.
