I have a question regarding the sizing of a 3D model in RFEM5. My question is about how to assign the hinges between the bottom chord of the truss and the columns of the frame. They are marked with a red circle in image 1 that I attached.
The connection with the left column I have made by allowing rotation around "y" and "z" and allowing displacement in "x" (local axes). At the right node similarly, but without allowing displacement in "x".
The column meets the requirements at 90% according to the poor shear combination, but if I increase the section to comfortably meet the requirements, the shear increases and it still meets them at about 90%.
The connection will be executed on-site so that the bottom chord does not transmit axial forces in the x direction. How should I model this type of connection in RFEM? I have tried deleting the bottom chord bars that connect to the columns, but it gives me an instability error.
