"scroll through" with possible multiple selection

Good day,

As someone who uses Revit and RFEM6 very intensively and alternately, one often wishes that functions from one program were also available in the other. In Revit, for example, there is an incredibly helpful tool that allows you to “tab through” multiple different components or elements that lie behind or inside each other by pressing the Tab key, if possible.

As an example:

In the current view, a glass pane is in front of a wall. If I want to click on the wall with the mouse pointer, normally the glass would be selected first. However, I can press Tab, and the next component in the program is outlined in blue (now the wall). If I press Tab again, the glass is outlined in blue again. Ultimately, when clicking, the component that was previously outlined in blue is selected.

Where would I especially wish for this function in RFEM6?

When editing IFC imports:

I think most people know this: you import an IFC or directly via the Revit interface, and there is still a bit of rework needed in many corners and edges.

For example, once the first “IFC surfaces” have been converted into “RFEM surfaces,” it is often difficult to select the remaining IFC surfaces:

Here, for example, you would like to click on the “IFC ceiling,” but you constantly catch the walls of the basement or the basement slab. How great would it be if I could simply press the Tab key while keeping the mouse position constant and cycle through all options to choose which component to select?

I understand that such a function is probably an enormous effort and possibly legally difficult since it would be directly “stolen” from Autodesk , but if there is already the possibility to create feature requests here, this would currently be one that is especially close to my heart.

Hello Nick,

that seems like a very good idea to me :ok_hand: and I have added your request to our list. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you if and when it will be implemented. However, the priority is higher than for other requests.

Best regards
Thomas
