Insulating Glass Panel

Hi, could you please release detailed documentation support for the Glass Module, specifically covering insulating glass panel calculations? The program is currently not performing reliably with different mesh sizes and is taking excessive computation time.

Additionally, the support conditions for interlayers (mid, top, and bottom) are quite unclear and confusing. It would be very helpful to have supporting documents that clearly explain the underlying calculation methodology and the effects of different support conditions within the Glass Module.

Hello @Mjadhav :waving_hand:

The online manual is still being worked on and will of course be published as soon as possible. Instructions on the procedure for entering insulating glass panes were given in the webinar Calculation of an Insulating Glass Pane in RFEM 6.

Regarding the FE mesh size, it is important that it is chosen as fine as necessary but also as coarse as possible in order to avoid enormous calculation times. It is also recommended, if possible, to apply the layered mesh to achieve as regular a mesh structure as possible. We are not aware of any meshing problems; if these occur for you, I would ask you to provide us with the model.

The support conditions can be placed individually, especially for glass construction, to also support individual layers. The supports are also displayed directly in RFEM to show you where they are arranged.

Top, bottom, or middle always refer to the surface side of the volume depending on the local z-axis of the volume.

The effects of the support conditions must always be considered individually and cannot be specified generically. For example, an eccentric support under normal force generates an additional moment in the pane.

To what extent this influence becomes significant must always be considered and assessed individually.
