Calculation does not converge

Hello,

I have an error on my RFEM model where it tells me in static analysis:
Load case 1: "Error 10154: The calculation did not converge, but the results are likely to be applicable. | To obtain more accurate results, please increase the number of iterations or increments."

and on the timber verification:
Load case 1: Uncalculable: "Impossible to define effective length segments for bending about the z-axis with lateral-torsional buckling by nodal supports at intermediate nodes.
The nodal supports at intermediate nodes correctly define the segments for lateral-torsional buckling only for bending about the y-axis."

I do not understand what this means nor how to solve the problem...
I have the impression that it is because the bar breaks but I don't understand how it finds results in static analysis.

Hello Massimo,

The problem with your model seems to be the nonlinearities. When I ignore all nonlinearities in the static analysis settings, there are no convergence problems. The same applies when I deactivate the rod bearing nonlinearities in the structural modifications. If the system otherwise responds stably, this indicates that the distribution of the contact forces cannot be resolved accurately enough to satisfy the continuum conditions with the nonlinearity. This can be achieved through targeted mesh refinement on the line associated with the supported rod. Please see the image below:

Attached you will find the model with the aforementioned adjustment. Unfortunately, I cannot quickly find a solution regarding the stability check; perhaps my colleague @gerhard.rehm can help.

In the design add-on the major axis for LTB must be the y-axis. In your case the y-axis is the minor axis. Please rotate the beam by 90° and switch member height and width:
