Load distribuiton using load wizards

Hello everyone.

I came across a problem during a simulation: when I used a load wizard to turn area loads into member loads, I selected one of the points of the area that misses the member by about 5cm (see image bellow).

After the calculation, I analised the deformation of the structure and found out that the deformations on the bars next to the one on the image above are much higher than expected, as if the load was poorly distribuited (see image bellow).

As you can see, the loads should be higher on the top beam and not on the middle beams.

Is this problem caused by poor load definition or does it have something to do with RFEM 6´s solver?
I will send the model I used for calculation.

Hi PedroSoares,

the load isn’t being distributed to all members because the Load Wizard doesn’t geometrically detect the top members in your model.

You have two options to solve this:

  • Adjust the load definition so that it correctly covers the intended members

  • Or, if needed, use Load Transfer Surfaces to ensure proper load distribution

You can find more details here:

You can always as well check the load distribution in graphics:

If anything is unclear or you’d like to share your model for a quick check, feel free to do so — happy to help!
