Modeling beams in different planes sharing a connection node

Hello,

I am trying to bolt the two beams, which are selected in the image, together in a similar manner to how the column is bolted to the middle beam above. I am currently running into an issue where I’m unable to have the two beams, which are on different Z-planes, interact at the same node.

Is there a way to have all three members interact at a single node and be designed together, rather than requiring two separate connections? Right now, I am modeling two separate steel joint connections, which don't allow them to interact with eachother.

Any advice is appreciated :)!

Hello Frogoil,

yes, you can achieve this by using eccentricities. I recommend checking out our manual for more details: RFEM 6 Tutorial - Eccentricities.

Here is an example from my own file, showing how it looks in practice:

If you need further clarification or run into any issues, feel free to reach out!
