I have modeled a foundation (8m x 7m x 0.2m) and a solid soil mass (56m x 49m x 16m; 1m gravel layer, with sand below). The two solid bodies are connected by a surface contact (failure in tension, rigid friction).
I refined the mesh around the slab using a node mesh refinement and by subdividing the soil. Is there a more elegant way to do this?
The actual problem is that the load cases and load combinations do not converge. The convergence diagram shows a displacement that, after a certain point, no longer changes as the number of iterations increases. Nevertheless, the iterations continue until the maximum number of iterations set is reached. It works when the surface contact is set to full force transmission. What can I do?
