RFEM 6: export rebars to IFC file

When I export my concrete structure containing the designed rebars as an ifc file, the rebars are not exported.

Am I missing something? or is it not possible to export the rebars as an IFC file or to a BIM model?

Hello @PSA001 :waving_hand:,

Thank you for reaching out!

Unfortunately, rebars cannot be directly exported via the .ifc file format. However, you can use the 3D .dxf export as an alternative. For more details, please refer to the following link:
3D .dxf Export Guide

If you're working with Allplan, you can export the surface reinforcement using the .asf file format. For more information on this, check out the link below:

I hope this helps! Should you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards,
Fabian

Hi Fabian,

Thank you for your reply.

I tried exporting the rebars using DXF format. It creates the wire-frame of the rebars, but it does not contain any information as to what are the rebar diameters and spacings, and so it does not answer my need.

After designing the rebars, I need to communicate the designed rebars to modelers so they can model them in Tekla. Therefore, having the feature to be able to export the rebars to IFC format with rebars as objects containing diameter, spacing and concrete cover information also in their property text, or even exporting the rebars with such information directly to Tekla would save a lot of time and hassle.

As I have developed such design data transfer tasks myself before, I know it is not a complicated feature to implement. So I hope Dlubal develops this in the coming versions!
