RFEM instability | Stiffness matrix is singular | Error

Hi everyone!

I’m learning to use Rfem for a small school project and keep getting error 10060. I’ve combed through the articles I could find online, but none of them helped. I’ve fixed a few similar issues already, yet this one has me stumped—and I still don’t fully understand what the error means (I only started working with Rfem a couple of days ago).

Individually, both the frame and the truss are stable. The truss was generated with the Rfem tool and behaves correctly in its 2-D model. But as soon as I combine the frame and truss in 3-D, Rfem throws the error. I tried adding purlins to brace the truss in the Y-direction and ran every model check available, but no luck so far. The only load case right now is self-weight.

Please help me.

Hi,

thanks for joining our new community.

Looking at the image, it seems to me that the longitudinal and transverse bracing of the building is missing. Please check this.

Otherwise, here are some hints as to where the problem might lie:

If you get stuck, please upload the RFEM file. Delete the FE mesh beforehand due to the file size. Then I will take a closer look at the problem.

I hope you enjoy your RFEM project. If you encounter any problems, please feel free to ask me.
