RFEM MCP server connection on a different port

Hello,

I am trying to run MCP server on my system. However, I am running into issues with regards to port.

The RFEM grpc server runs by default on 9000 port, however, in my system, this port is occupied by a critical security process (which cannot be moved or turned off due to company policies). Therefore, in my system the RFEM grpc runs on 9001.

Now as I understand the RFEM MCP server is so built that it tries to reach the RFEM grpc server at port 9000 by default. That is the reason I am not able to execute my prompt's successfully. I have extensively tried to shift the port where RFEM's MCP server tries to connect to RFEM grpc server by modifying config files in RFEM_mcp_server and dlubal api, however, no luck.

I am following the same instructions as given herein on the website: MCP Server — Dlubal API documentation.

After extensive research everything looks fine and this is the last step which is proving to be a hurdle. I would appreciate if someone can be of help here.

I am also trying to communicate with our IT-team to look into changing the port of the security process. But chances are highly unlikely that they would make an exception for one. Hence, I dropped in to check here.

Curious to hear about solutions.

Kind Regards,
Nitesh

Hello @mnitesh27 ,
it is currently not possible to change the port that the MCP server connects with. It has to be port 9000. We already forwarded this wish to our development department.
