RX-Timber, partial factor issue

On the Nat. Annex tab, you can define the partial safety factor for e.g. glulam. However, that information does not flow to the Desing-All data in the Material data section after Calculation. So I now have a different multiplier in the Nat. Annex data and in the Material Data section of the calculations. I think there should be the same multiplier in both. Have you noticed such an error?

Hi @henkka, :waving_hand:

you can adjust the partial safety factor both in the National Annex and in the Material settings. Please note that this modification will always affect the ULS (Ultimate Limit State).

For the SLS (Serviceability Limit State), no changes are required, since the calculations are carried out with the characteristic stiffness values.

Hope this clarifies your question! :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks Sandy! Ok, where Nat. Annex partial safety factor is used if calculations use factor from Materiall values?

Hi @henkka :waving_hand:,

thanks a lot for your question!

• The partial safety factor from the material is taken into account when calculating the stiffness.
:backhand_index_pointing_right: In RX-Holz, however, this has no influence.
• The partial safety factor from the National Annex is applied on the design side.

I hope this clarifies the difference :sparkles:.

Thanks, ok now!
Btw, would it be possible to adapt as a standard value new Finnish NA in to RX-Timer? There seems to be old information (old FI-NA) for example with partial safety factors (timber and glulam) and k.cr (in Finland for glulam k.cr is always 1,0, not 0,67). Of course I can change those but every time I have to change those when I open new calculation. And glulam EN-material values also with safety factors.

Hi Henkka, :waving_hand:

Please note that with the release of the new program families RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9, we are no longer adding new features or updates to older programs like RX-HOLZ.

However, you might find the following webinar very helpful:
Timber Design: Member vs. Surface Analysis | WEBINAR :movie_camera:

In RFEM 6, the new Finnish annex is already included, as far as I am aware.

If you have any further questions or want guidance on transitioning to RFEM 6, feel free to ask — we’re happy to help!
