Hello everyone,
As part of my master's thesis, I am investigating the influence of geometric and mechanical tolerances on the load-bearing capacity of membrane structures. For this purpose, I model both mechanically and pneumatically supported membrane systems in RFEM 6.
The goal is to realistically consider tolerances, especially with regard to shape (e.g., deviations in sag) and prestressing, in the model.
This raises the question for me of what options are available in RFEM 6 to numerically represent such tolerances.
So far, I have considered the following approaches:
- Variation of prestressing
- Adjustment of internal pressure (for pneumatic systems)
- Targeted displacement of supports or boundary conditions
Are there any other methods to represent shape and prestressing tolerances in membrane models?
Thank you very much in advance for your support!
Best regards
