I just joined the community and already have a question about the Digital Wind Tunnel. Unfortunately, I have a construction site appointment at this time on 07/22 and cannot participate.
So here is my question: Does the digital wind tunnel provide load approaches for complex structures in the sense of a "verifiable structural analysis" required in Germany based on the EC?
Looking forward to a confirming answer ;)

Beate
I know the software only a little. That would be a question for info@dlubal.com.
Greetings from Kleinostheim
Thank you for your feedback.
I am a bit surprised: 73 views and no participant has experience with the wind tunnel and its results?
Please write to me if you have any experience.
I work in steel construction, and the approach to wind loads is sometimes a tricky problem.
Are there any experiences? Are the approaches verifiable and accepted by the testing engineers of this country?
Have a good start to the week.
Hello, you can currently only use the software according to the standard for a preliminary dimensioning. Otherwise, the verification/calibration must be coordinated in advance with the testing engineer. If necessary, additional investigations in the wind tunnel may then be required.
Hello Djaba01
and thank you very much for your feedback.
Do you have practical experience with the program?
No, but I just attended a seminar on wind loads, which also covered the topic of software simulation.
Hello Beate-B-aus-J,
Thank you very much for your question and welcome to the community!
Yes, the Digital Wind Tunnel can provide wind load data that is suitable for verifiable structural analysis in accordance with the requirements applicable in Germany, provided that the simulations are correctly validated and comply with the specifications of the Eurocode (e.g., EN 1991-1-4 for wind loads). According to section 1.5 of EN 1991-1-4, numerical simulations may be used in addition to calculations and physical wind tunnel tests, provided they are "proven and/or properly validated." This allows engineers to obtain reliable information about loads and structural behavior based on accurate models of both the construction and the natural wind conditions.
Results such as pressure distributions or resulting support forces can be transferred into structural analysis software like RFEM and used there in load combinations according to the Eurocode and national annexes.
Of course, it is important that the boundary conditions and model assumptions of the CFD simulation are carefully chosen and documented to ensure traceability and acceptance by reviewing engineers.
Here you will find some links to validation examples with RWIND based on the Eurocode, including notes on how to perform proper validation.

There is a recording on Youtube for that

Thank you very much for the recording. I just watched it again. For my current project, I will definitely come back to it again in the next few weeks.
