Wind load assistant for one-sided open structures

Hello everyone,

I want to apply wind loads in RSTAB 9 using the load assistant. My structure has a shed roof tilted by 3°. However, it is not a freestanding roof. It is a building open on one side. How do I enter this correctly?

Hello Marc and welcome to the community! :handshake:

A single-sided open building is not represented as an independent category in the load assistant according to the EN 1991-1-4 standard.

However, one solution could be to adjust the loads generated by the load assistant. For this, the load assistant Wind Loads is used for the preset. From my point of view, it is important here to consider the internal pressure. How this can be determined is shown in this technical article. Likewise, individual walls can be disregarded here. Please see the following image:

If additional generated loads should not be considered or need to be adjusted, you can also dissolve the generated state. However, it should be noted that this will result in losing the link to the load assistant and the associated convenient adjustment will no longer be possible.

Best regards,
Marc
